Entering the Workforce The Career Services Office hosts on-campus and employer interviews two times a year, giving students the opportunity to meet with representatives from area law firms, corporations, government agencies, public interest and non-profit organizations. Second and third year students are eligible to apply and be interviewed for summer internships and employment following graduation. In order to help prepare students for on-campus interviews, training sessions and sample interview sessions are arranged by the Office to help students become more comfortable with the process. A variety of resources including Web site employment searches, employment guides, media postings and alternative career option listings are also available. Career Enhancement Through the many employment-related lectures and programs offered each semester, students are regularly informed about the kinds of opportunities available, as well as ways they might maximize their chances of taking part in such opportunities. The Office's "Thursdays at Noon" series brings in a host of speakers that cater to the diverse needs of the student body. Judicial Clerkships Each of the nearly 600 federal district court judges is authorized to hire two law clerks. Circuit court judges are generally allowed three. In addition, senior judges, magistrate judges and administrative law judges hire clerks. Each state administers its own court system with the number of clerkships varying. Career Services will help you find a clerkship that matches your qualifications and goals. Public Interest Careers The Career Services Office joins with the Public Interest Law Group to send students to the Equal Justice Works employment fair each fall, and sponsors Public Interest Career Night each October.
