Technology and Research

The library has developed an extensive collection to support work in all areas of the legal curriculum. These materials include both print and electronic resources and bibliographic indexes. Students have online access to numerous databases providing full text of prominent journals. Students are given individualized instruction to use these resources and are guided through the research process by professional librarians. The library also has a comprehensive collection of legislative materials and government documents.

With the technology provided by the School of Law, you are trained to understand the many forms of legal research used today. Our research librarians hold both a J.D. and Master’s in Library Science and can assist you with your research needs. The following resources are available to all law students:

  • Access to numerous legal, non-legal and interdisciplinary databases through the extensive network of University resources
  • Law journals, e-books, periodicals, Saint Louis University libraries (holdings and databases)
  • Online exams with the same software used for state Bar exams
  • Reference and research assistants available during school hours and on evenings and weekends
  • Wireless internet access

The 2006 entering class was the first class to be offered the option of taking final examinations on their laptops.

Whether you envision yourself in the courtroom, the boardroom, in private practice or public service, a good quality laptop computer will help you develop skills and habits in law school that will contribute to your success as an attorney.
