Programs for Union Leaders
Since 1989, the Center has sponsored two educational programs offered specifically for union officers and agents. At the first full-day conference, prominent local attorneys and agency experts tackled the issues of IRS and Department of Labor record keeping requirements and auditing programs as well as problems of plant closings and in the duty of fair representation in arbitration. The second Union Conference on Labor Law and Collective Bargaining focused first on the problems surrounding strikes, picketing and hand billing, and then shifted consideration to the Worker Adjustment Retraining and Notification Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, and the finality of arbitration awards.
