Saint Louis University School of Law Emergency Response Guide

  • The building fire alarm system is sounding

At the sound of the alarm in Morrissey, Omer Poos, Wuller and/or The Connector Building, all occupants (faculty, staff, students and visitors) in each of these locations should immediately evacuate the building using the nearest exit.  DO NOT USE THE ELEVATORS.  Because Queen’s Daughters and the Law Clinic are separate facilities, its occupants need not evacuate unless the alarm system sounds in their respective building.  Faculty conducting class at the time the alarm sounds are responsible for directing their students to evacuate the building.

Once outside the building, faculty and staff are asked to report to one of two locations:  the sidewalk at the bottom of the stairs of the Lindell entrance, or the walkway at the bottom of the stairs of the west-side entrance to Cook Hall.  Clinic faculty and staff should gather on the sidewalk at the Spring entrance.

All alarms should be considered valid unless prior notification has been made announcing the testing of the alarm system.

  • Medical emergency

In the event of a medical emergency, please dial 911 immediately and then notify the Dean’s Office at 314-977-2700. Do not leave the individual alone except to seek help. First aid kits are available in Student Services, the Dean’s Office, the Library, the Faculty Secretary’s Office and the Clinic.

  • Unwanted visitor in the building

Contact Public Safety at 314-977-3000 to report suspicious individuals (provide a description and the location) and then contact the Dean’s Office at 314-977-2700. In the event of a threatened or actual attack upon the law school building and/or its occupants, the Dean’s Office will use email (SLU account) and voicemail to communicate the details of the situation to the Law School community. You will also be notified at this time of any necessary precautions required for your safety.

  • Weather related emergency

    Upon notification, please seek shelter.

  • Troubled student

If you have a concern about the health or well-being of a student, please contact the Dean’s Office at 314-977-2700.
